DRAPÉ

Le désir de travailler sur le thème du drapé m’est venu après avoir vu un film qui m’a beaucoup frappé. Il s’agit d’Ordet de Dreyer, réalisé en 1955. Dans ce film, on peut voir plusieurs plans sur des draps tendus dans le vent, très blancs, très éclairés, qui attirent par leur lumière ainsi que par la sonorité de leurs claquements. (...) Les drapés du Greco me bouleversent également ; ils sont étirés entre ciel et terre, dans une suspension tourbillonnante. Le drapé est toujours mystérieux, car sa signification et ce que l’on en perçoit relèvent du « mystère ».

DRAPÉ

The desire to work with the theme of drapery came to me after I saw a film that had a profound effect on me, Dreyer’s Ordet produced in 1995. In it, you see some shots of sheets blowing in the wind, so white, so bright, capturing your attention by the light they give off and the sound of their flapping. (...) I’m also deeply struck by El Greco’s drapery, stretched between the earth and sky, suspended in swirling motion. Drapery is always mysterious, the “mystery” being what it signifies and what we perceive.
